The 22-year-old defender underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery after an injury sustained during the previous season. His recovery is gaining pace and Fofana could be hitting the training ground soon after he hinted at resuming running activities on his Instagram Story with the caption 'After [a] long time' accompanied by a running and football emoji. He also added: "Alhamdulillah" at the end of the story.

Fofana is undergoing rehabilitation and his return date remains unknown. He is yet to train under new manager Mauricio Pochettino but the Instagram story suggests that the defender is in the final lap of his recovery before hitting the grass.

Fofana has been unfortunate with recurring injuries since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City in 2022 after the Blues paid £75 million for the defender.
