With the transfer window in Scotland due to close next Friday, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard needs to hurry up if he wants to get some additional faces through the welcome gates at Ibrox.
The Liverpool legend has already recruited a host of players, but he is now believed to be considering a swoop for a former Ger.
Ross McCormack came through the Scottish outfit’s academy in 2004 and spent a further two years there before joining Motherwell.
The striker has gone on to play for Cardiff City, Leeds United, Fulham and Aston Villa, where he currently plies his trade.
However, under manager Steve Bruce, McCormack has had a torrid time, and has barely featured for the Villans during his two-year stay.
According to the Daily Record, Rangers have been alerted to the availability of McCormack, who has been informed by Villa that he will not be used this season.

On Twitter, some Rangers fans have given their thoughts on the possible transfer.
A few would welcome the striker back to Ibrox, while others want the club to steer clear.
