Manchester City face off with Southampton once again this Saturday after beating the Saints 3-1 in the League Cup on Tuesday.
Goals from Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi pushed City through to the next round where they will now play Oxford United.
In the game against Southampton, Pep Guardiola’s men looked just as convincing as ever with a team containing plenty of fringe players. The Spaniard used the League Cup to test out some up and coming talent, with Angelino, Tommy Doyle and Eric Garcia among the nine changes to the side in midweek.
However, with yet another tense title race already beginning to take shape, Guardiola cannot take any risks and is likely to restore his key players to the side.
Eight changes are predicted for City, with Fernandinho and John Stones most likely restored to the defence. However, a key figure in the midweek win was Angelino at left-back, so the 22-year-old should keep his spot.
At right-back, we expect Joao Cancelo will start. The ex-Juventus man has quickly begun to push Walker out of the right-back slot in the league, starting the last three games and impressing all the while.
The injury to Rodri in the middle of the park all but guarantees a start for Ilkay Gungodan, whilst David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne should come back in – the two playmakers have a combined 13 league assists so far.
Up top, Sergio Aguero’s two goals in midweek against the Saints put the Argentine on 12 for the season and should keep his place ahead of Gabriel Jesus; plenty of FPL players will certainly be hoping that’s the case.
Alongside him, Raheem Sterling is simply immovable on current form.
On the opposite side, Riyad Mahrez’s transformation this season has proved he is an integral part of Guardiola’s squad right now. The Algeria international could come in, with Bernardo Silva having to make do with a place on the bench.
