Arsenal have reportedly struck a deal with Sporting CP to sign talisman Viktor Gyokeres for a fee of £64 million (€73.8m/$86.3m), inclusive of add-ons.

were first to claim that a deal worth £54.8m (€63.1m/$74.2m) plus £8.6m (€9.9m/$11.7m) in add-ons had been struck in principle between Arsenal and Sporting but issues remained over the nature and achievability of Gyokeres' contingency bonuses. This was later followed by Fabrizio Romano claiming a verbal agreement was in place.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for a new number nine for a long time, and it seems that search may finally be over with the acquisition of Gyokeres. But it hasn't been easy as the transfer has been at risk of falling through, the Swede reportedly refused to turn up to pre-season and even allegedly threatened to go on strike as club president Frederico Varandas warned of sanctioning the 27-year-old. But after all that, he is now set to join the Gunners.
