West Ham United are expected to miss out on signing PSV Eindhoven youngster Jayden Braaf as the forward is on the verge of joining Chelsea, according to The Sun.
What’s the word?
The 15-year-old has seemingly attracted attention from numerous top-level clubs for his performances in PSV’s youth team.
The attack-minded starlet was developed in Ajax’s academy and has already shown his versatility by performing on either side of the wing, as well as a number 9.
According to The Sun, West Ham were one of the clubs interested in snapping up the youngster, while Manchester United, Manchester City, Ajax and Bayern Munich also had an eye on Braaf.
The newspaper reports, though, that Chelsea are likely to win the race as they have a verbal agreement to sign the teen following talks with his agent and family.
Could West Ham have done more?
In cases like this when a handful of clubs are making moves for one youngster, it is difficult to stand out from the rest of the pack.
For West Ham, when they are up against heavyweights like Bayern, United, City and Chelsea, they are always going to be at the back of the line.
Even though the club need to continue developing their youth talent, at the moment, the tension between the board and the fans needs to take priority.
To help that along, the team need to start picking up more wins as they currently reside just two points above the relegation zone with eight games left to play.
