Liverpool are, according to some reports, on the verge of sealing a deal for Martin Odegaard. Not sure who he is? Well get on YouTube, as this 15-year-old winger is seriously good. Already a three-time senior Norway international, Odegaard frequently plays against players old enough to be his father, and has been scoring goals for Stromgodset for much of 2014.
Understood to be on Merseyside to discuss a deal, the youngster has been spotted dining out with Philippe Coutinho and his agents, and is believed to be a massive Reds fan, opening the door wide for a January move.
But with the Anfield club always on on the lookout for talented young players, here are a few more they could sign to accompany Odegaard…

Zakaria Bakkali

Anyone who’s played FIFA over the course of the past few years will know all about Bakkali! The Belgian winger, who will turn 19 in January, is already a star turn in the Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven, with his electric pace and intelligent moment having made him a big hit in Holland. A winter move for a cut-price fee looks to be on the cards amid rumours that his club cannot tie him down to a new contract, but Liverpool will have to beat the likes of Chelsea and Man United to the punch.

Divock Origi

Already a Liverpool player, Origi is not due to pull on the red shirt until he’s 20, with a loan stint at Lille having been part of the £10m fee paid to the French side for him over the summer. The 19-year-old striker shone at the World Cup – scoring a vital. group stage goal against Russia – and has been keeping Everton’s Romelu Lukaku out of the XI regularly since then. Talk of a £5m fee to get the teenager in early has been doing the rounds, which would make sense for Liverpool given their lack of firepower without Daniel Sturridge.
Max Meyer

One of the more complete teenage players around, Meyer is already a Germany international at the age of 19 – which is no mean feat considering that the world champions’ attacking midfield options are plentiful. While Julian Draxler has grabbed the headlines at Schalke, Meyer is rated just as highly in Gelsenkirchen, and is even being tipped, by some, to outshine his older team-mate. Schalke want a massive fee, however, which may scupper interest from big sides for now.
Gabriel Barbosa

Dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ – which is mad considering Neymar himself was dubbed the ‘new Ronaldinho’ not so long ago – Barbosa is making a massive stir in his homeland, Brazil, with his breath-taking displays. Already a regular for Santos, despite tuning 18 just a couple of months ago, the silky forward is renowned for his array of tricks and eye for goal, making him the latest Brazilian tipped for the top. A major fee would be needed, but Liverpool could be in a position to challenge for him next summer.
