Aston Villa’s pursuit of a goalkeeper continues to gather pace with a report now suggesting they’re considering Middlesbrough stopper Darren Randolph.
The Telegraph claimed that the Villans were interested in the 32-year-old but have held talks with Burnley’s Tom Heaton.
They also suggest the club are also still keeping an eye on Alex McCarthy of Southampton.
However, faced with the news that Randolph may possibly arrive, the reaction from Villa supporters was undoubtedly negative on Twitter.
One claimed that he and McCarthy were no better than what they already have whilst another simply asked whether the club were trying to get relegated.
A further fan laid into him by sarcastically mentioning the fact that even Glenn Whelan scored against the Boro man. A certain individual meanwhile said he wouldn’t be an upgrade.
Randolph had a strong 2018/19 season between the sticks playing in 46 Championship matches for his side. The former West Ham man kept 19 clean sheets in the process, being beaten 41 times across the games he played in.
Throughout his career, he’s featured in 29 Premier League matches, a tally that he’d hope to significantly add to if he does indeed make the switch to the Midlands.
Here’s the best of the reaction.
